Maquis du Zaire consists of singers:Mbuya Makonga Adios, Mbombo Wa Mbomboka, King Kikii, Kalala Mbwembwe, and later on Kasalo Kyanga, Kyanga Songa, Assossa, Issa Nundu, and others. Solo Guitarist during this time period is Nguza Viking who later left to create Sambulumaa in 1987.

Here's some information about them: IOSS was created in a kind of coup in 1985, when the bandowner, businessman Hugo Kisima, disbanded his Orchestra Safari Sound (OSS) led by Ndala Kasheba and hired six leading members of Mlimani Park to form the nucleus of the new IOSS. Singer Muhiddin Maalim Gurumo and lead-guitarist Abel Balthazar were the new bandleaders, Hassani Bitchuka the leading vocalist and composer.

Morogoro Jazz Band, also known as K.Z. Morogoro Jazz Band, was a seminal Tanzanian muziki wa dansi band, one of the few that were not based in Dar es Salaam. The band originally played live at the Morogoro Hotel in Morogoro (about 200 km west of Dar) and became very popular in the 1960s and 1970s, receiving much airplay from Tanzanian radio stations.[1] The leader of the band was guitarist Mbaraka Mwinshehe, a former member of Cuban Branch Jazz. The original lineup also included Salim Abdullah, who would later found Cuban Marimba.
Mbaraka Mwinshehe died following an automobile accident in 1979 in Alifia Mombasa hospital
